The establishment of the national geoparks sets up a platform for us to learn the geological knowledge in a systematic way. At present, there are already 85 national geoparks and 8 world geoparks in China. The reason of calling these places "geoparks" lies in the fact that they are different from other parks. The geoparks are established centering on the geological relics and complemented by other tourist and recreational functions. All these over 80 geoparks have their own unique features and many of them are also key national scenic spots and world heritages.
The China Geobook selects 21 distinctive national geoparks in the perspective of geology and provides good examples for the geology lovers to learn about the national geoparks in China in a systematic and simple way.
